- In the first place, files like "GEOS" and "GEOS KERNEL" are more than a
- little bit required to run GEOS. In the second place, GEOS boot disks are
- by and large so well copy protected that destroying a boot disk means giving
- up on GEOS altogether. In the third place, the files "GEOS KERNEL" are located
- on particular tracks and sectors (I believe this was also true of 1.3), such
- that trying to move them to another disk, or even moving them around on the
- same disk, means destroying your boot disk. All that to say: it is a bad idea
- to delete those files, don't do it. :)
-
- As for advantages of Geos 2.0 over 1.3, it's hard to say, as I've never
- messed with 1.3. I believe 2.0 supports the 1581 drive, while 1.3 didn't.
- 2.0 may have more ram expansion support than 1.3. Certainly 2.0 has better
- applications (geoWrite and geoPaint) over the earlier versions. Most
- importantly though, all the goodies you can buy to upgrade GEOS, such as
- gateWay, new CMD configure programs to support their hardware, and geoWizard,
- all require version 2.0.
-
- Hope this is helpfull.
